It was an absolute pleasure to spend some time with you exploring the CILM as a professional learning model. I think in the short time together it gave us an opportunity to get to know the diverse experiences that we have around this model and hopefully you were able to make some connections within your small breakout groups for continued thinking about facilitation in professional learning in mathematics.
Some aha’s that we walked away with were:
The structure is intended to serve the professional learning vs professional learning fulfilling the model structure
The purpose of research is to challenge what we believe (feeling uncomfortable is evidence that this is happening)
We learn more about student thinking through observing and listening to the students then just analyzing their written work
